DUEY'S POSITION ON THE ISSUES
PLACEHOLDER TEXT: Duey Stroebel knows firsthand how to balance a budget, meet a payroll, and live within your means. A conservative and lifelong resident of the 20th Senate District, Duey built his business from the ground up, creating good-paying jobs and giving back to his community to make it – and Wisconsin – stronger.
Tax Reform
Tax Reform
I am proud to have voted for Governor Walker’s budgets and other tax reform measures that have cut taxes on Wisconsin taxpayers by $2 billion. But we are not done. I believe we should continue to flatten tax rates and reduce the amount of income and property taxes leveled on the people of Wisconsin. Taxes should be uniform, easy to understand, and as low as possible. Reducing taxes and refocusing deductions and credits will improve Wisconsin’s business climate and environment for job creation.
Common Core
Common Core
Wisconsin should immediately scrap the Common Core standards and replace them with robust state standards that meet Wisconsin’s unique needs. I voted on several education reform bills last session regarding Common Core and student data collection. I will fight to ensure that standards are based on local standards of excellence, taking into account the concerns of local school board members, administrators, teachers, and most importantly parents.
Election Reform
Election Reform
Elections in Wisconsin are all about consistency and fairness. We must protect our right to vote by ensuring the integrity of all elections. I championed reforms to in-person absentee voting in order to create uniformity throughout the state. It was time to stop allowing some municipalities to have advantages over others that may not have had the same level of resources. It is also vital that the Legislature does whatever is necessary reinstate photo ID as the law of the land.
Family Values
Family Values
I am Pro-Life and proud to have been endorsed in this race by Wisconsin Family Action. As the proud father of eight, I realize how very important it is to protect the most vulnerable among us and will always fight to ensure that strong families remain the foundation of our society.

Personal Property Tax
Personal Property Tax
The personal property tax should be repealed. This summer I chaired a Legislative Study Steering Committee to review this crucial issue for small businesses. This tax is an antiquated. Over a century of exemptions have left a Swiss cheese-like tax structure that is arbitrary and punishes many small businesses seeking to invest in new equipment.
2nd Amendment
2nd Amendment
I am a lifelong hunter who is a strong supporter of our fundamental 2nd Amendment rights. In Governor Walker’s first term I supported Concealed Carry and the Castle Doctrine legislation. I will continue to do everything I can to protect Wisconsin’s heritage.

School Choice
School Choice
All of my children have had the privilege of attending First Immanuel Lutheran, a private school in Cedarburg, and then Cedarburg High School, one of the best public high schools in the state. All parents should have the same options that my wife and I did, irrespective of zip code or income level. The elimination of the cap on statewide school choice enrollment will empower parents and offer real choices for excellence.
